  153. The program you need is called UNITERM - I have V2.0c and find it's
  154. VT100 emulation excellent. It even does the graphics, double-height
  155. characters and application keypad.

  216. Actually, my monitor is an amber monitor that I used to use with an Atari 800.
  217. I'm looking for a way to connect it to a spare ST to make it useful for my
  218.  girlfriend.  Anyone know where I can get a cable that pulls out the composite
  219.  output from an ST's monitor port?  I realize that this will only work in color
  220.  resolutions and that I'll only get grayshades.  Also, is there a problem with
  221.  plugging composite output into a monochrome monitor (it's not TTL, in case
  222.  you're worried :-)

  268. exporting messages from(/to maybe) a couple of Usenet newsgroups.  I was just
  269. wondering if anyone out there might be doing it already and be able to offer
  270. some helpful suggestions.  Or any advice on the subject.  We have an old copy
  271. of the Mailtruk source we are looking at now.  Any help/advice would be

  296.   Glad to hear you're running ok, but your previous paragraph implies a
  297. badly incorrect assumption.  FOLDERxxx doesn't stop being useful when
  298. you go to versions of TOS above 1.2.  I'm not positive, but I'm pretty
  299. sure it can even be used on TOS 3.x machines.
  300.  
  301.   Any time you suddenly start getting wierd disk results after using
  302. your machine for a long time under any version of TOS, you might want to
  303. consider installing FOLDERxxx or upping the number of folders it's set
  304. for (increasing the xxx).

  314.   If you use the "CD" (change directory) Flash command, there's a very
  315. obscure bug you might be running into.  If you have any CD commands
  316. where you include both a disk id and a directory, you might try
  317. splitting them up into two calls.

  393. Perhaps you have a Virus, since that is not normal behaviour for an ST.
  394. At least I've never heard of anything like that happening.  Before you
  395. upgrade, get a good virus locator and check all your disks.  If you don't
  396. have a Virus, I'm not sure what is wrong.  I hope this helps you out a
  397. little.

  439. Well, Bobie boy, you're almost right.  Certainly an IBM emulator on
  440. an Atari is not going to be 100% compatible, but neither would an
  441. XT system.  More and more software companies are finally getting
  442. the picture and beginning to write software that will only run on 386
  443. systems.  OS/2 version 2.0 is one example.  QEMM 386 is another.
  444. These packages will not run on an XT.  Sure there's software out there
  445. right now, but the days of the 8088/86 chips are certainly numbered.
  446. If someone has an ST system with a color monitor and a harddisk
  447. already, all it would cost them to get the original SuperCharger
  448. is $400.  This would be a system that was pretty darned compatible,
  449. had color graphics and a harddisk.  To get the same kind of price
  450. for a comparable "IBM compatible", either you would have to buy
  451. used equipment, or sell your Atari.  With the first option you
  452. end up with two computers, and the second you end up with only one.
  453. I'd take the first option any day.  Now if someone has your basic
  454. monochrome ST system with just a floppy disk, they'd be better off
  455. going out and buying a real "IBM compatible", instead of purchasing
  456. something like SuperCharger.  The IBM emulators are designed to be
  457. attractive to Atari users who already have everything they need
  458. except an 80x86 chip.

  498. I don't agree with you.  Here in NY, you can buy an XT laptop
  499. with 640K RAM and 2 floppies for $399 and for about $300 more
  500. you can get a 286 laptop with a hardrive.  If I had any real
  501. need to use a MS-DOS machine I would probably opt to buy one
  502. of these machines rather than deal with all the hassles of putting
  503. one of these "sorta compatible" boards in an ST.  The cost is
  504. almost the same so why bother hacking up your ST?

  525.     Prior to NeoDesk and the other shells, I used to run all of my
  526. favorite programs from Flash.  I would dedicate a function key for
  527. WordPerfect, another for Vip Professional, another for Joust (gotta have
  528. a game), etc.
  529.     It was and in many ways, still great.  Lots of neat treasures in
  530. that manual.  It is a bit of detective work, but the commands are there
  531. in the manual.

  585. It is posible to assign a Printer command string to a Unused screen character,
  586. That is in the Print Driver, then it is posible to get any other
  587. funtion you like.
